Gebe diesem Song auch einmal eine four. Irgendwie noch eingängiger Refrain. Kenny Rogers' Stimme gefällt mir um einiges besser als die von Dolly Parton.

Für Country-Puristen war das wahrscheinlich schwer zu verdauen, zumal das Duett auch noch ein Mega-Welterfolg war. Trotzdem finde ich dieses geschmeidige, luftig-leichte Duett absolut grandios. Dice helle, klare Stimme von Parton ergänzt sich perfekt mit Rogers rauem Timbre. Besonders schön, die kleinen "ah ahs" der Beiden. Dazu die astreine Produktion von Barry Gibb & Co. Ein Klassiker des Genres, auch wenn es hier mehr als Pop als sonst was zu hören gibt. Trotzdem war das Stück auch einige Zeit # 1 in den State-Charts. Perfektes Amusement von zwei großartigen Künstlern. Ich liebe besonders Dolly!

Diese gemäss Hitparade.ch-Alphabetize mit Abstand bekannteste Kenny-Rogers-Nummer fristete bei meinem Blick auf die Discographie des Country-Hünen bisher eher ein Schattendasein, wenngleich mir der Klassiker natürlich bekannt state of war - allerdings besonders in der weniger staubigen und aufgepeppt arrangierten Neuaufnahme von Barry Manilow und Reba McEntire. Dice grundsolide 5 volition ich dem sympathischen Original nicht verwehren. Gut!

Huch, gerade gesehen, den hab ich ja auch noch nicht bewertet .... Gehört zu meinen Alltime Favourites ... an diesen Song hab ich immer besondere Erinnerung ... damals, als ich 1983 in die Schule kam, lief der gerade im Radio. Und ich habe die Melodie mit den typischen "Ah-ha'due south" niemals vergessen. Erst 1999 hatte ich den Vocal dann endlich in meinem Besitz, dazwischen war er schlicht "im Rauschen der 80er" verloren gegangen ... <br><br>Ganz typisch ein Gibb-Brüder-Song! Die Harmoniebögen darin sind ganz einzigartig und nur ihnen zuordenbar. Und er state of war perfekt für dice beiden (damals) großen Stimmen des amerikanischen Contemporary Country geeignet. Wie ein Topf mit dem passenden Deckel sozusagen ... das ganze Arrangment drumherum tut ihr übriges, gerade die Akkord-betonende Gitarre setzt Akzente. Heute ist der Song ein Standard bei Tanzveranstaltungen geworden und wird von allen Party-Bands beherrscht.<br><br>So Long<br>Silvaheart

Nou daar komt ie dan: Beste duet aller tijden. Goed, typisch Bee Gees nummer maar vooral de samenzang van Kenny Rogers met Dolly Parton maakt dit een onvergetelijke single. En State Musci Television was het blijkbaar met me eens want tijdens hun grote jaarlijkse Awards prove werd dit nummer ook door hun kijkers (ca 92 miljoen) als beste duet aller tijden verkozen.
